HISTORY
Originally established as the Brunswick-Glynn County Clean Community Commission in 1980 and renamed Glynn Clean and Beautiful in 1987, Keep Brunswick-Golden Isles Beautiful was re-organized in October 1997. Providing leadership is a Board of Directors and Advisory Board comprised of volunteers from all sectors of Brunswick and the Golden Isles. The organization is officially recognized as a Keep America Beautiful/Keep Georgia Beautiful affiliate. Monetary, in-kind, and volunteer support for specific programs/activities is sought from businesses, governments, civic/community organizations, schools, and individuals, reinforcing the concept of a KAB/KGB system as a public/private sector partnership.
VISION
To be litter free, to have 100% participation in recycling,and to be the most beautiful community in the state.
MISSION
To create a clean an beautiful community through citizen involvement and education.
GOALS
KAB EDUCATION: To educate the entire community and encourage involvement in KAB programs and activities on a continuing basis.
ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY: To continue identification of roadways, thoroughfares, and open spaces for adoption.
SIGNATURE PROJECT: To beautify Spur 25 from US 17 to I-95 (Phase I), US 17 to the Sydney Lanier Bridge (Phase II), and the Sydney Lanier Bridge to Hwy 303 (Phase III).
GLOBAL BEAUTIFICATION: To involve a variety of community organizations in beautification projects that enhance and improve specific areas in the community.
WASTE REDUCTION/RECYCLING: To support the development of user-friendly waste reduction/recycling programs and to educate the community as to the importance of their use.
